Winter weather this week…don’t get your hopes up too high!
Rumors are starting to fly concerning winter weather later this week in Eastern Carolina. So, what's fact and what's fiction?Fact: It will begin raining late Wednesday night lasting through most of Thursday.
Fact: It will be a very cold rain.
Fact: Evaporative cooling caused by rain falling into extremely dry air may cause a brief period of sleet after midnight Wedneday night through around sunrise Thursday morning. Because the air is so dry, this precipitation, likely sleet, would be very light and not enough to accumulate, especially as warm as the ground is.
Fiction: A winter storm is coming to Eastern SC. It wouldn't be unheard of for northwestern parts of the Pee Dee up into North Carolina to get a dusting of snow and sleet, but that would quickly turn over to rain and the vast majority of you reading this will get absolutely no accumulation in the end.
Fiction: You should immediately go to the store and buy as much milk and bread as you can possibly get your hands on. I've never understood buying perishable things like milk to prepare for a storm, but there's no need for drastic measures.
Fact: Forecasts are not always perfect, so if you are reading this from west of I-95 in the Pee Dee northward into North Carolina, you should monitor the forecast very closely. Even a minor change in the track of the low could result in a better, or even worse, chance of wintry weather in your area.
Fact: My hands are tired from typing and answering emails, so I'm out.

Ha Ha you should take this show on the air..
I think alot of concerns stem from the snow we had back in 1973..
We were looking for a few snow flurries and South Carolina shut down for two weeks due to a blizzard..
That was back when the closest thing we had to Titan radar was Don going outside..sticking his finger in his mouth to wet it..and hold it up against the sunset and go to guessing..(I miss that guy)..and hollering in there to Cecil that it wasnt gonna snow much..
