What’s the Weather- Thursday 6/17/2010

What is the hottest temperature ever recorded in Myrtle Beach?

Answer: 104. This has only happened twice at the official observing station located at the North Myrtle Beach Airport, and both happened in the 1950s. The first time was on 6/26/1952. The other time was 8/5/1954, which you may recall that was the year of Hurricane Hazel, so let's hope the hot weather recently is not some kind of omen! We did set a couple of records on the Grand Strand earlier this week with the hottest day being 98 on Tuesday, but as hot as it was, it can get a LOT hotter here this time of the year!
