What Lincoln is Thinkin’ - Week 9
Welcome back to What Lincoln is Thinkin'.First off, some unbelievable games last week.. the two biggest games on the docket did not disappoint. Chuck Jordan's teams just find ways to win, that was a gritty, gutty victory by Conway in Hartsville no less. I hope the Red Foxes don't get too down about that loss, and instead use it to motivate them through the playoffs. Because I would love to see that game again.
Also, wow was I wrong about North Myrtle Beach/Socastee. I picked that game for a sure-fire low-scoring game. Instead, it was a shootout, with the Braves prevailing by 6. Two stars stood out - Chiefs RB/LB Chip Hester is a stud. He ran for the first touchdown, then fumbled on the next drive. Then after Socastee scored, he looked like Devin Hester bringing the ensuing kick for a score.
Also, Braves QB Willis Mills is the perfect QB for that system. He's a solid runner, and can throw when he has to. Socastee is number 10 in our Terrific 13 and they definitely deserve to be there.
In response to one of our recent blog responses... Yes, we've struggled to get to many Chesterfield games this season. It has nothing to do with disrespecting the Rams, and everything to do with it being a tough drive to get to. Obviously, I'm not very popular in Ramland right now, and I apologize. We will not have highlights of their game at Great Falls this week, but I guarantee will be there for week 10 at McBee.
This week??? Big game for Wilson against Marlboro County. Tigers suffered a letdown at Crestwood, a team the Bulldogs handled. This game will truly show how good Marlboro has come this year. I'm taking the Bulldogs, by at least 2 and half touchdowns.
Best game in our entire area will be Scotland County and Richmond County. Both teams undefeated, and both teams hate each other. I only wish I could drive up to Laurinburg to see this one. In an upset, I'm taking Scotland.
Carolina Forest started clicking again last week against Georgetown. Panthers had 35 points before the Star-Spangled Banner was over. This week is Forest's chance to leave a long-lasting impression before they leave for AAAA next year... but I don't see how they can beat Myrtle Beach.
East Clarendon belongs in the ACC, because you just never know what you're going to get from them. That's why I like Lamar on the road, and by a lot. Silver Foxes take the Region title, then get to enjoy whipping Timmonsville for the second time next week.
Finally, the struggles continue for West Florence, Hartsville wins with ease.
What do you think about those picks? Tell me what you're thinkin'.
