What Lincoln is Thinkin’ - Week 7
Welcome to the Week 7 edition of What Lincoln is Thinkin'.Biggest Win, and upset came in the same game last week. Behind an unbelievably stout defense, Lake View took down rival Carvers Bay for CB's second loss this year at Big Bear Stadium. What do I take from this? Coach Jewell McLaurin did a great job getting these kids pumped for this game. The Gators are considerably smaller than the Bears, but it didn't matter. CB made some mistakes - a few costly penalties here and there, and let LV get a few big plays on offense. But Lake View shut down the CB offense and contained Jonathan Holmes as much as one team can. Honestly, I think it was just an great job of coaching and executing by an undermanned Lake View team. Awesome.
Real Quick, my top five most impressive wins of the year so far.
1. Myrtle Beach over Conway
2. Lake View over Carvers Bay
3. Wilson over West Florence
4. Myrtle Beach over Dillon
5. Carolina Forest over Carvers Bay
Big Ups to CE Murray for finally getting on the scoreboard. They still got crushed by Lamar, but finally putting points on the board must have felt good.
Now's when the real season starts for Marlboro. This bye week came at a great time... they wiped the floor with Darlington and are ready to steam roll through the playoffs.
I'm surprised Chesterfield lost to Lewisville. I was positive that region would come down to Week 10, with McBee taking on the Golden Rams for the title. It still might come down to that... but I thought they'd both be undefeated.
Not a question what the biggest game of the week is this week. West Florence comes down to the backyard to battle Conway, who has looked better and better every week. The only thing with the Tigers is they've been resting their starters the second half every week... you wonder if they can play an entire game against a tough opponent. Plus, the Knights have had an extra week to prepare.
Still... this week's picks...
(home team in caps)
CONWAY over West Florence
CARVERS BAY over Green Sea-Floyds
Dillon over MARION
Marlboro County over CRESTWOOD
ST. JAMES over North Myrtle Beach.
Enjoy Week 7.

How about Carolina Forest? In their first 2 games this year they exceeded their entire points scored last season. I was at the Conway game and their was some horrible officiating. Just absolutely apalling. Am I saying CF would have won? Maybe not. But the score wouldn’t have been so one-sided. I think it’s a shame that the Panthers aren’t getting nearly the credit they deserve. Beating a state champion team, regaurdless of the size, is no small feat. I say it’s high time to give credit where credit is due.
