What Lincoln is Thinkin’ - Week 13

First off,

I said on "The Press Box" on 100.1 The Fan last week that the Hartsville game would come down to the Red Foxes finding a way to make stops on defense. No one has ever doubted that team's offensive skills, but with their backs up against the wall, we knew this game would come to defense. Well Hartsville scored the exact same amount of points as they did in their regular season loss to Conway, but instead of losing by 8, they won by 7. Congratulations to Coach Calabrese's Crew.

Tough loss for Marlboro County. This entire season has been a maturing process for the Bulldogs, and they've just been dealt their most important lesson. If you turn the ball over in the playoffs, you will lose. A disappointing finish for sure, but I'll pencil in the Bulldogs as the preseason favorite to win the AAA title next year.

Meanwhile, Wilson keeps on trucking. What's amazing about the last two years for Wilson, is they're 5-1 in the playoffs, with all six games on the road. It's incredible hard to win in the postseason, and the Tigers keep doing it away from home.

Lake View is unbelievable. Williston-Elko had players all over the field that were at least a head taller than the guys they were lining up against. The Wild Gators just impose their will onto other teams, and once again, this is a team primed for a state title.

Let's move on to some predictions:

The Red Foxes beat Ridge View by 17 during the regular season. Hartsville playing better football now, and they'll win again.

Carvers Bay is just too one-dimensional on offense. Yes, Jonathan Holmes is a great running back, but the Bears have shown they can't do much else on offense. Defensively, they haven't seen anything this year like the Silver Foxes. Lamar is going to Orangeburg.

Myrtle Beach is banged up and not playing great football. But this won't be the week they lose. Myrtle beats Crestwood, but I don't like their chances next week.

Against either Wilson or Strom Thurmond. The Tigers are a great story, I have no idea how they keep winning. But I think it ends this week. Strom will be coming down to the Beach next week.

Finally, the big game of the week. Dillon barely held on to beat a great Hanahan team. Cheraw thrashed an averaged Edisto team last week. The Braves were not a great team for the first half of their season, but have given up more than one touchdown in a game once in their last 7 outings. Meanwhile, Dillon was AA's best defense, before allowing 38 points last week. The Wildcats also let Hanahan take an early lead by turning the ball over. I think this game will be lower-scoring, and could go either way. But I've liked Dillon to win the state title since before the season even started. I'm not going to stop now.

What are you thinkin' about this week? Let me know!

yeah we are a great story and also we are a great team. Nobody expects us to win so that’s what keeps us going.

don’t count wilson out yet.  For a tv station that didn’t know a players name on last weeks blitz show, wilson vs timberland, you should be giving wilson the benefit of the doubt. Oh by the way that players name is anthony green #5.

Y’all still don’t have faith in Wilson. I’m a Marching Band leader and I see people drive 3 hours to go see these games. We keep the team going and they do fabulously. They beat Strom and WILSON is going to the beach next week. Stop underestimating them. It hasn’t worked so far…

The Tigers ARE a great story…they keep winning because their athletes and coaches work harder than anyone else.
We beat ourselves at Crestwood in October…see you at State !

By the way; the Sr. kicker’s name is spelled Robby Bonanno. My son.
