What Lincoln is Thinkin’ - Week 11

First off,

I hate rainy Fridays. There's nothing worse than having a schedule all set and ready, then having thunderstorms totally screw it up. I was all primed to go to Hemingway-Lake View, but the game was postponed until Saturday, and I had to miss it.

Luckily enough, I did get to go to Fox Field and see Marion and Mullins battle for a playoff spot. Coach Carfley's team will not contend for a AA title, in fact they might not get out of the first round, but he's done a great job getting over the school's problems from the past year. The team he has left is full of dedicated athletes, I'd love to see them get a nice win over Buford on Friday.

Rough ending to a great season for Hartsville. For them to get a guaranteed spot in the playoffs, they need to beat Sumter then have South Florence beat West Florence. Actually... I think there's a better chance at the latter happening. The Gamecocks looked great last week against Conway, and the Red Foxes just don't have the defense to stop Sumter's running back. Hartsville will not win on Friday.

The A bracket is a joke. Lake View beat Cross, and had fewer losses in the regular season, but still the Wild Gators get the 2 seed. It's tragic. I think there's some confusion out there to actually who won that game... http://www.goupstate.com has Cross winning it, and the Associated Press has the Gators at 8-2, when their only loss was to Dillon in Week 1. If that confusion is what caused the rankings to come out that way, there is something seriously wrong. Maybe everyone just knows that Lake View will steamroll everyone in Division II, and they wanted to even things out. I don't know.

Looking at the bracket... there are three games that I'm looking forward the most to.

Myrtle Beach vs. Marlboro County in the AAA Lower State Finals
Cheraw vs. Dillon in the AA Lower State Semifinals
Lamar vs. Carvers Bay in the A Division 1 Semifinals

Right now I'm not sure who would win those games, but I'm almost positive all of those teams will be there. In fact... the biggest threat to keeping these three games from happening: Myrtle Beach vs. Hilton Head to Round 2.

Okay, I've all ready hinted who I think will win some games this Friday... but here are a few others:

I like Conway to bounce back against Dutch Fork. The Tigers need to get some momentum back for the playoffs.

Hemingway will prevail over Baptist Hill, and get to lock horns with Lamar next round.

Waccamaw will give Central a game, but the Eagles have too much.

McBee surprises on the road, and upends Christ Church.

Sorry Swamp Foxes, Marion loses at Fox Field to Buford.

Have anything to add??? Tell me what you're thinkin'!

Matt, I don’t think MB will have that much trouble with Hilton Head, they lost five players two weeks ago, because of beaking into a hilton head country club and stealing food and beverages and over 300 dollars! But first we have to take care of Lake City, it is never easy to beat a team twice. We have to play hard and keep lake city down and out! Good Luck Hawks!

I’ll tell you what, with Spencer Benton out for the season, Myrtle Beach will be in trouble.  Benton injured his back in practice last week, and the Seahawks lose their kicker and a top receiver.

They’ll still beat Lake City no problem.  But after that, things might get dicey.

I knew about spencer’s back when he sat out against St. James. He just did not realize how bad it was. I know we will miss spencer alot, but mostly for his senior leadership! Jordan Butler is awesome at field goals and extra points as he is 17-18 on pat’s except the bad snap during the downpour at socastee, and his punting is better than than you would think for a sophmore! He does not kick off as far as spencer so that hurts a little. You will see drew ellis at receiver in place of spencer and a sophmore named morgan byrd will help fill spencer’s receiving talents. I wish spencer would not have gotten hurt, as he is a good friend of mine but i feel the hawks will use it a rallying point just watch and see.

Matt, we played our worst game of the season,it is never easy to play a team twice, no matter if you are 11-0. That being said i hope this will be a help to a hawks squad who had not been tested since the dillon game. What happened to Hilton Head, chapin i bet surprised some people last night! Guess that 2nd round match up with Hilton Head that you predicted will never happen. I give credit to lake city they were fired up last night, even though they were poor sports at the end!
