What Lincoln is Thinkin’ - Sunday Morning at Augusta
Not a Cloud in the SkyThe bad weather that a lot of the golfers had dreaded has not showed up at Augusta National. There is not a cloud in the sky, and it's surprisingly calm. The forecasted 30 mph winds are nowhere to be found. Apparently they don't have meteorologists as adept as Frank Johnson here in Augusta. What does that mean? A better chance for Trevor Immelman and Brandt Snedeker to stay in the lead today.
Tiger Boasts Confidence
Yesterday Tiger took the time to do his rounds with the media. This is meaningful, because on Friday he blew past everyone, obviously peeved at his subpar round. But Saturday he exuded confidence, saying that he's set himself up to be in contention on Sunday. And that his 68 was "as bad as he could've scored" as well as he was hitting the ball. Now with Mickelson's collapse, he's the only major winner in the top 6, and the only one who knows what it's like being in contention on Sunday at Augusta.
Immel's the Man
Trevor Immelman has set himself up to the be first player ever to shoot in the 60's every day at Augusta National. Trevor Immelman, of all people. The prevailing feeling was that once Tiger posted his number, Immelman and Snedeker who break under the pressure. They didn't, and they're in the final pair. And the Masters winner has come from the final pairing in 16 of the last 17 years. The only golfer outside that final pairing to win during that stretch? Zach Johnson last year. He was in the third to last pairing. Which is where Tiger is today.
Do you give Immelman and Snedeker a chance on Sunday
