What Lincoln is Thinkin’ - Rain Threatens Practice
What Lincoln is Thinkin' - Thursday AfternoonThere's one word to describe the weather on Thursday afternoon at Darlington Raceway - "Threatening". The skies have looked like they were going to open up since I arrived at 8AM. (That's right, I said 8AM). Storms are in the forecast for sometime tonight, which could push back practice times, and maybe even cancel a few. This would be disastrous for a many teams, because they have no idea how their cars will run on this new pavement.
Drivers have stayed for the most part in their trailers until 2pm. We did have a chance to talk to Irmo, SC native Danny Efland, who is racing for the first time on the Lady in Black. The 19 year old is juggling college and racing as he tries to qualify the #0 car. This will be his 6th time trying to qualify for a Nationwide Race - unfortunately, because of cash limitations, he can't race more than about 60 laps.
Chris Fischer and I talked to some crew chiefs today about racing on the new pavement. While neither of them know what to expect, they're both confident that the drivers who know more about Darlington will have the best chance for good runs - so don't be surprised if an ol' timer like Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin or Jeff Burton walk away with the checkered flag on Saturday.
Will you be attending the race on Saturday? Tell me what you're thinkin' about how the new pavement will effect the Track Too Tough to Tame!

Hope they don’t get rained out. I’m anxious to see the speeds on the new surface.
