What Lincoln is Thinkin - Week 6

What Lincoln is Thinkin' - Week Six

I'm thinkin' that I don't think I've been as excited for a regular season game as much as I'm excited about Lake City/Myrtle Beach. There are better rivalries out there, but this game signifies the best that these two teams maybe have ever been in their histories. There not two teams that play each other every year, and therefore, this game will be remembered for a long time. Especially with Lake City moving to AA. No matter what happens, the 2009 Panthers team will always be remembered by Lake City fans, and this will always be known as "The Everett Golson Era" in Myrtle Beach. Now, they're converging in a region championship game the first week of region play, with last year's memorable game sticking in their minds. Can't wait. I'm thinkin' Lake City is too big in the trenches, they'll score at will on the Seahawk defense. Myrtle Beach will score a lot too, just not as much.

I'm thinkin' Darlington is dangerous now with Victor Hampton. The man scored twice for the Falcons in his first game after joining the team on Tuesday. After not winning any region games the last two years, they may win three this year. But I'm thinkin' one of those will not come this Friday against Marlboro County, a state title contender.

I'm thinkin' Carvers Bay finally got caught. The Bears had been dominating teams in the second half during their 5-0 start. So how did Hemingway beat them? By eliminating the second half. They played one first half on Friday, then another first half on Saturday, to win 7-6. That marks two straight seasons the Bears have lost to Hemingway after starting the year 5-0. I'm thinkin' that the Bears will bounce back, with a home win over Lake View.

I'm thinkin' that I really don't know who screwed up a rainy Friday night worse. Carolina Forest and Socastee postponed their game all the way to Monday night, leaving the Braves with just three days to get ready for Friday's game at North Myrtle Beach. (The Panthers were the lucky ones - they have a bye). Lake View and Johnsonville waited through two long lightning delays before finishing their game at midnight. Then the aforementioned Carvers Bay Hemingway game, who started the game, then made everyone come back for the second half the following the afternoon. All terrible situations. I'm thinkin' that while I understand that it conflicts with college football, calling the game beforehand and playing on Saturday night makes the most sense to me.

I'm thinkin' AA Region VIII is a lot more interesting this year. Marion, Mullins and Loris are all much improved, and we're still not quite sure how good Cheraw is. Dillon will once again win the region, and Aynor will finish in the cellar, but games featuring teams in the middle are going to be very interesting, and there are two of them this week. I'm thinkin' Cheraw beats Mullins and Loris tops Marion this week, to set up an intriguing Loris vs. Cheraw matchup next week.

What are looking forward to this Friday?
