What Lincoln is Thinkin’ - Rainy Friday at the Track
What Lincoln is Thinkin' - Rainy Friday at the TrackRain, rain go away, but don't come back the next two days
At the time of this posting (12:30pm) Cup practice has been canceled, and no one is expecting Nationwide qualifying to go off this afternoon. Rain has basically killed any excitement at the track - some of us media types have locked ourselves in the main media press room for a handful of press conferences (Kurt Busch, Brian Vickers, Juan Pablo Montoya, Kasey Kahne and others). Among the excitement so far.... Busch being asked if he helped his brother with his marriage proposal - "No, that was something he did all by himself. I could've helped him pick out a ring though." And Vickers trying to dodge an aggressive reporter who was trying to drum up a controversy between him and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Also, Montoya mentioning that it did not bother him that almost no one in his home country of Columbia would care if he won the Daytona 500 Sunday.
McCumbee makes the race
Supply, NC native Chad McCumbee is not looking forward to the 2010 season, but at least he will be racing here at Daytona. The former Sprint Cup fill-in (a few years ago he drove the Petty 46 car) now only has one ride in one race this season. But last night he qualified and got in on time for the truck race. He says that while he has nothing else set in stone for the rest of the season, he's expecting something will come up, even if it is only for a few weeks. One race he really wants to compete in is the truck race at Darlington. McCumbee said it would be important to his friends and family if he could ride back at home in August.
What is more pink? Me, or a Martinsville hot dog?
So, you South Carolinians as you hope to avoid this wintry weather, I'm sure you'll be happy to know that I have a sun burn all ready. Only one day in, and I'm all ready as pink as Martinsville hot dog. Which coincidentally, was the lunch in the media room today. These dogs are topped with a sweet sauerkraut, mustard, and some brown stuff which I hope is some sort of chili. One of the most disgusting foods I've ever seen before in my life. But I must admit, very tasty.
What are you looking forward to this weekend?
