What Lincoln is Thinkin'Prior to game: Duke "broke it down" like the Saints... Felt sort of like a ripoff to me - almost as if they watched that dang ESPN piece thirty times. Sitting on press row, in front of about 1500 Cameron Crazies.. getting ready for CCU vs. Duke
19:15 Chad Gray is the one guy that could've kept CCU in this game and he's suspended. It will be interesting to see how long CCU stays in this.
18:00 Sam McLaurin dunk - he's going to have to have the game of his life to keep Coastal in this. The 100 or so Chant fans are pretty excited
17:30 Mario Edwards steal and dunk... 6-0 CCU. Coach K remains unfazed.
14:58 - Under 16 timeout... 6 straight points for Duke to tie it up. Alas, that may be the end of the magic. But it was nice for 3 minutes.
In addition... it's a joke that the NCAA and ESPN will not let us shoot this game. But having a running diary from press row at Cameron Indoor is pretty fun too.
12:44 Pretty teardrop from Joseph Harris, but good shots are not coming easily right now 11-8 Duke.
11:35 Kyle Singler is even doofier looking in person than he is in on television. Timeout Cliff Ellis, Duke on a 14-2 run.
7:45 20-12 Duke. Coastal has nowhere to go on offense. Kierre Greenwood trying to break the defense, but the frosh just isn't there yet.
5:30 26-12, Coastal missing easy shots. Duke is just way too big - Singler, Plumlee, Ryan Kelly, Zoubek, all much bigger than biggest Chant.
3:11 26-15 Mario Edwards three-ball, it's about time they hit one. Duke is giving the CCU shooters some looks.
1:30 30-16, K takes a TO. Two straight times down the court, CCU drew defensive fouls. That's a step in the right direction.
1:00 30-19 Sam McLaurin with a huge block on Singler turns into a three from Edwards. Best highlight of the first half for the Chants.
Halftime 33-19 Duke leads. Great start of the half for the Chants, not a bad finish, but a dead middle that cost them a chance to stay in this game. All is not lost though.
End of the break, I'm refreshed. Hopefully Cliff figured out a way to get some easier buckets in the last 12 minutes.
19:19 33-21, two straight offensive boards for the Chants leads to a Logan Johnson bucket. They have to outhustle the Dookies for points.
16:30 38-23 CCU rebounding with more authority, but Edwards blew a layup & Jon Scheyer just hit a 3. Chants with great intensity to open half.
15:08 40-25 Harris just fouled Zoubek, giving up half a foot and 50 pounds, he's got to tear his arm off to stop him.
14:20 43-25 Greenwood just fouled Scheyer on a 3. He's a typical Duke player - you look and him and wonder, how is he a starter on a top 10 team?
12:01 45-28, Jon Pack just embarrassed himself on national TV - trying to lay it in when he was on the other side of the backboard.
11:11 47-28 I'm impressed w/ Singler - great rebounder on the wing, he's got 19, but it feels like he could take this game over if he wanted.
8:18 57-34 Duke's size is overwhelming, but Joe Harris and Sam McLaurin are fighting very hard down there.
7:46 59-34 I mean this in the nicest way possible - if attractiveness of the coeds is high on your priority list, don't come to Duke.
If you like clapping and swaying in unison and wearing dumb hats, then Duke is the place for you.
6:15 61-38 Coastal is in the double bonus and getting calls at Cameron. They're going to keep this relatively respectable. Gotta get to 50.
4:00 65-40 Ellis seems to be resting Harris for tomorrow, playing lots of Greenwood and Pack, knowing Gray & Nieman will be back.
Final score: 74-49, CCU kept it within 28, which was the line we set before tipoff. Scoring in the 40's isn't good, but all in all a great effort.
