What do I like most about my job?
Well, the obvious answer to that question if you're like most Americans is pay day. However, that's not the case for me. I hate pay day. I'm obviously kidding on that one, but aside from pay day, I would have to say what I like most is the fact that I get paid to do my favorite hobby. Does life really get any better than that? Imagine, if your hobby is golf, being a professional golfer or if you're not that good, owning the golf course and getting to play all the time for free. Or, if you just love to relax at the beach, but actually got paid to soak in the sun. While my job is no day at the beach so to speak, I've wanted to be a meteorologist since I was 10 years old and feel very fortunate to be able to do it every single day--and actually get paid! Don't tell my bosses, but I'd actually do my job for free if they had just asked. Too late now!If you happen to be a youngster trying to choose a career, that would be my advice to you. We all have hobbies, right? Well, think about the thing you enjoy doing more than anything else in the world. I bet someone makes money doing it, unless that hobby really was being a beach bum--you might be out of luck on that one! They may sell something you need for that hobby or actually actually charge others to do that hobby. Either way, someone is making money because of your hobby. Why can't that person be you? As Americans, we are often told by those around us that choosing a profession is all about money. I couldn't disagree more. When I first got into televison about 8 years ago, I quit a job making twice as much money and have never even once regretted it. I think happiness and fulfillment is all about doing what is your passion and loving what you do. For me, that passion has always been trying to predict the unpredictable--the weather. What's your passion?
