What did we do before email?

I keep in touch with so many people through email. In the newsroom, we use email to get information to one another and then post it on the web for our viewers. I use email to keep in touch with my friends in cities throughout the country. It’s such an easy way to say a quick hello… confirm plans… even send a birthday card!

Needless to say, I’m a big fan of email. Which led me to think… what did I do before we had it? (For many people a little younger than me it may be hard to believe there was such a time… but, there was!) I probably used the phone a lot more. And, I used snail mail… I remember having a pen-pal in London when I was a child.

The ways we communicate continue to evolve. Now that we have text messages and can send pictures through our phones… who knows what’s next!

Actually we wrote… but the question I have is “HOW DID WE GET ALONG WITHOUT CELLULAR PHONES?“  Today scary as it sounds they are everywhere. In a line shopping hearing someone chatting away, but at first you think they are talking to you but instead they have an ear piece.  You see people driving with them which causes accidents or those near misses. Gone are the days of waiting at the house for a call. Are we too plugged in? Even new phones have Email.

Most people however have lost the ability to write a well constructed letter. A friend at the post office said that most letters they deliver people do not put the Address and Recipient Address in the correct format or place.
