West Florence looking like its old self again

It's been quite a year for the West Florence Knights.
And it got even wilder on Friday.
The Knights, all but left for dead in the playoff race, pulled off an amazing game against one of the best teams in the area.
And it was indeed a total team effort. West's offense finally got back on track and looked a lot like the one that helped carry West to a 5-0 start. Despite numerous injuries, including to starting quarterback Jimmy Howell on the Knights' second offensive series, West managed to do what had made them successful: Run the ball, make first downs, take time off the clock and give your defense a breather so it can come back ready to roll.
If the Knights can keep that up, they'll be tough come playoff time, and a win against South Florence in two weeks will put them there.
Hartsville on the other hand has now scored 10 points in its last six quarters, seven of which were set up by a blocked punt.
The Red Foxes were equally adept at running and throwing the ball, but have had trouble in the passing game the last two weeks. Part of that is due to two excellent defenses, but as Hartsville coach Jeff Calabrese said, the Red Foxes had their chances, they just haven't been able to execute. Numerous times receivers were either overthrown or just dropped the ball.
And now they're the ones facing a tough road to get into the playoffs.
