Wedded bliss

It's official: I'm a sister-in-law.

My kid brother, Jim, and his wife, Tyler, had a terrific wedding that I think turned out to be a great time for everyone who was there. Sure it was a serious, holy event, but it was a lot of fun. Seems like the party started even before the rehearsal dinner and lasted until I finally left Raleigh late the next day after the wedding.

Jim and Tyler are two of the most easygoing people in the world, I think, so it was very appropriate for the event to be light and happy.

There were many highlights, including seeing lots of friends and family from Cleveland and elsewhere in attendance, as well as a bunch of Jim's buddies from high school and college.

Gotta give a shout-out to best man Daniel for his excellent wedding day toast, and to Jason for managing to call my brother by his high school nickname, Bull, during the actual wedding ceremony.

Tyler looked gorgeous, and Jim couldn't take his eyes off her. She and Jim looked very, very happy -- which made me very, very happy!

And, my bridesmaid's dress held up, as did my hair (after I lacquered it with product).

Probably my favorite thing was that my brother had the DJ play a song we've both always loved especially for me and him to dance together to. That really meant a lot to me.

My cousin Wendi also managed to give props to the Cleveland clan by getting the DJ to play "We Are Family" for us. Very cool!

My friend James, who I've known for almost 20 years, was a good sport as my date. As expected, there were questions from well-meaning family members as to the nature of our relationship.

It's like this: I'm the oldest of the cousins on the Torok side of the family, and there's a series of five of us who are one right after the other in age. Four, now including my brother, are married and three (not including my brother) have children. I'm the one who's still single and child-free, and I will probably remain that way.

Anyway, in sum, the wedding was great ! I'm looking forward to seeing all the photos that were taken throughout the day.

Not so great was getting good and sick upon my return to the Pee Dee. I feel like I'm still trying to get caught up here at work after having been out for the wedding, then out sick. It's stressing me out. So if I'm stressed out, that must mean things are getting back to normal.

Jackie, you are 100% correct, everything was perfect and I think a good time was had by all.  For the record, my mom cried more at Jims wedding than she did at mine, I think it was more of surprise that he was getting married.

until we meet again.  Thanks for the props on the toast, it was the most important speech I have ever given, and I have given a lot!

Did Jackie slam down a few PBR’s?  You do know she’s a redneck now?

Tequila is my alcoholic beverage of choice, Mr. Mookie. Daniel can personally attest to this. smile

I don’t really drink beer unless I’m working in the yard, watching sports or eating pizza!

“I don’t really drink beer unless I’m working in the yard, watching sports or eating pizza”

I’m sorry..but you cant have it both ways..

Either you drink alot of beer...or you rarely work in the yard..watch sports or eat pizza..

You aint running for office here Jackie..you can fess up to us..me and Mookie can keep a secret..we wont tell anyone..wink

I’m just sayin’, Wolf, if I have a choice between tequila or beer, tequila always wins.

Rare is the weekend I’m not working in the yard or watching sports, however.

I can’t cut the grass without knowing I can look forward to an ice cold beer afterward.

And beer and watching football go hand in hand in my tradition.

I’ll go with that answer…

My existence on this planet revolves around drinking beer..I aint ashamed to admit it..cause I aint looking to date anyone from here..I aint out to impress anyone...and as long as I am sitting at home drinking beer..I aint out breeding with the locals..

I understand that to be a good thing..

I like that tequila 1800..I believe is what it is called..has a lil shot glass built into the lid...that stuff is as smooth as spring water..

I’m proud to say I am drug-free...that’s about the only good thing I can think of to say about me..wink

I did not see Jackie imbibe any beer except for maybe during the rehearsal(sp) dinner and it was definitely not PBR.

I can confirm there were hard liquor drinks had during the festivities.  I am also happy to report, that for the love of God, she did not make me drink any tequila this time.  She is evil when there is tequila around.

Remind me to never go drinking with Daniel..

..he cant keep a secret..*LOL*..wink

That 1800 is good stuff. Better stuff is Don Julio Blanco. It’s a beautiful aquamarine color and dangerously smooth, especially when it’s super-chilled. Also very good is Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo tequila. Both the Don Julio and Cabo Wabo are extremely pricey, though. Definitely for special occassions.

I’m also a fan of the Jose Cuervo Black Medallion—nice, oaky flavor that mixes really well with pop (especially lime-flavored Diet Pepsi, which I’m really aggravated that I can’t find around these parts anymore). Diet Pepsi, my reporters can tell you, is what fuels me during the work day. I buy it in bulk.

Back to tequila: my brother and his wife were in Mexico for their honeymoon during Cinco de Mayo and said they were a little disappointed to find out it’s wasn’t that big a deal where they were.

And Daniel, I think you’ve confused “evil” with “friendly.” smile

The only one I have ever tried that I cant remember how good it was cause I was hammered off of it was Pepe Lopez Tequila..

When they brought it to me..it had a lil bug in the bottom of the glass..they said it was a worm..but it looked like a bug to me..possibly an albino cockroach or something along those lines..

Me and Harley woke up sometime after 2PM the next day...at a roadside park on a picnic table..

A family of 4 was eating lunch at the other picnic table...they didnt say much..course I dont reakon they had to..

I couldnt get up...cause I knew if I did I’d toss my cookies for sure and I didnt wanna spoil their family outing..so I just waited them out..

I still remember that lil boy..as they drove away..standing in the back seat looking out the back glass and waving at me..but for the life of me..I cant remember if I waved back..

Sometimes it is good that we only cross paths once in this life..
