Underated rivalry
There are many great rivalries in the Pee Dee.There is West and South Florence and Lamar and Timmonsville.
But think one that gets overlooked is Darlington vs. Wilson.
The two schools are separated by just 12.5 miles. And their fan bases are passionate about their teams and usually play in front of packed gymnasiums.
This was true Friday as it was standing room only when the boys game began. While the game didn’t go down to the wire like it normally doeswith Darlington winning 60-52, it definitely was a good atmosphere to watch a game.
While Darlington’s gym floor is old and needs to be replaced, the fans are right on top of the action and create extra energy in the place.
So if you haven’t been to a game between the two schools, I definitely would recommend it for anyone next season.
