Under the Sun: What’s playing on your iPod or MP3 player?

I wasn’t sure what type of music I was in the mood to listen to today, so I put my iPod on shuffle.

It’s like listening to the radio, minus the commercials.

Here’s what was playing today on Radio Jaime:

  • “Groovy People” by Lou Rawls: I like this song. I got it after I saw Rawls perform the song an episode of “The Muppet Show.”

  • “There You’ll Be” by Faith Hill: I haven’t listened to this in a long time. Still sounds good. I think it’s from a movie soundtrack.

  • “Dreams of Our Fathers” by Dave Matthews Band: Not one of my favorite DMB songs, but I still didn’t mind listening to it when it popped up on the random playlist.

  • Ti-Pi-Tin” by the Andrews Sisters: My Nana is a big Andrews Sisters fan, so I grew up listening to many of their songs, as well as to Glenn Miller and Jimmy Dorsey songs.

  • “King For A Day” by the Thompson Twins: Ah, the eighties. I still love to listen to this music — it’s the soundtrack to my childhood.

  • “Standing In The Shadows of Love” by the Four Tops: Who doesn’t like the Four Tops?

  • “I’ll Be Seeing You” by James Darren: I love Jimmy Darren’s voice. I’d never heard of him until I saw an episode of “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.” He was singing the types of songs Sinatra used to sing. I don’t care for that show, but I’m grateful to DSN for putting Jimmy Darren on the air. I think Darren was also in one of those Gidget movies back in the day.

  • “Call and Answer” by the Barenaked Ladies: OK, I don’t know this one. I’ve never listened to it before. I do love “One Week” and several other songs by this group.

  • “Here I Come” by Fergie: What a fun song. It’s good to listen to while working out at the gym.

  • Enough Space” by the Foo Fighters: OK, I don’t know this one, either. The only Foo Fighters song I really know is “Learning to Fly,” which I really like, but the song title always makes me think of the Pink Floyd song first.

  • “Sleigh Ride” by SHeDAISY: OK, so I’m listening to Christmas music in June. I’m still enjoying it. I love almost anything by SHeDaisy.

  • “Let Me Let Go” by Faith Hill: So the shuffle seems to be gravitating to country songs today ...

  • “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” by the Andrews Sisters: My absolute favorite Andrews Sisters song!

  • “Not Ready to Make Nice” by the Dixie Chicks: This might be one of my favorite songs by this group. Nice video.

  • “Keep Fishin’” by Weezer: Love, love, love this video, even though Jim Henson wasn’t around to perform Kermit’s lines.
