Thoughts from week 11

A few quick thoughts on Week 11 of high school football action:
1. Watch out for Manning. I know Marion isn't the biggest measuring stick, but the Monarchs have all the tools to be a state title contender. They have about 12 guys who can run the ball and they're all good. The quarterback was the big question mark coming into this season, and he's turning into a great QB. Any team in Class 2A that has a passing game with that manny weapons is dangerous.
2. Congrats to Hannah-Pamplico. Knocking off the No. 1 seed in Class A Division I is no easy task, and the Raiders gave themselves another shot at Lamar next week.
3. Other than Pamplico, the first round of playoffs went pretty much as planned: Lots of lower seeds earning a quick exit against much stronger teams. It happens in pretty much every sport. And for those who wonder why they continue to do this, look at Pamplico. Granted it's rare, but it does happen.
4. West Florence is moving on again. The Knights have a championship-caliber defense, and maybe this time, the offense can provide enough to take some of the pressure off. Unfortunately, they're going to face a top seed, so they can't come out flat on either side or it will be a long trip back to Flo-town.
