Thoughts from Week 1
A few quick thoughts and my impressions from Week 1:1. Congrats again to coach Bley and the Latta Vikings. Now the real fun begins (See Dillon on Friday).
2. Marlboro County has always been a top program, but didn't think they were going to have their way with Cheraw like they did. Coach Boyd and his staff always seem to get the Bulldogs ready for a challenge. We'll see if that leads to Clemson this year.
3. Manning is always one of those teams that flies under the radar. They've got a lot of talent, and if the new quarterback settles in, they've got another playoff run in them. We'll see what they're really made of when the play Timberland.
4. Lake View was handed what might be its only loss of the season Friday against Dillon. The Wildcats have had their number for over a decade now and don't show signs of letting up anytime soon. If Lake View gets by Carvers Bay, it's another top seed for the playoffs.
5. My thoughts on the brawl: Obviously, you never want to see that in any sport from anybody, espeically high school kids. At this point, who or what started it is irrelevant to what will happen this week. I would be shocked if postseason rights aren't take away and more than a few kids let go. It's a real shame for both teams. Wilson had a opportunity to make it back to the state championship, and I at least thought Lake City was good enough to earn a No. 2 seed out of their region
