The Power of Teamwork
At the end of the day, it does me so much good to think about our team, and how selfless so many can be to make the overall news programs come together. I think of how, when help is needed most, individuals step in, then step up, and the gaps are filled. For the most part, those champions of teamwork don't look for accolades... it's just all in a days work. It is that kind of atmosphere that I love most. Many of you may know that we just moved into an unbelievable new building in Myrtle Beach, right next to the very old one that we had been in for probably about 18 years. Our team grew so much over those years that our desks were practically on top of each other. We planned for, and anticipated the move into the new building for such a long time. And then.... it happened. We moved from what felt like the slums to the Taj Mahal. I wondered if being in such a huge building would move us further apart as a team. I believe it has not only had the opposite effect, but that we work better than ever together... better than we could have ever imagined.
On our evening shift, we actually LOVE a challenge of breaking news. and the healthy debate that comes from differing opinions on how stories should be covered and aired. Our evening producer, Molly Baker, says it's all for the good of the newscast, and I agree. She shared with me tonight that even when things seem to fall apart (which can definitely happen in live t.v.) we handle it well together. That is just GREAT! I am thankful we have such a wonderful place to work, and fantastic people coming together everyday to make it happen. It may all sound kinda corny, but I believe in telling others you appreciate them.
We are also blessed to have folks in our communities who trust us, who answer our calls everyday, who offer their perspective on the stories we report, and who give us good feedback- very important stuff. Many thanks to you, and to our viewers, for your loyalty.

Martha, thank you for taking time to write this post sharing the internal relational strengths at WBTW, and the station’s constant efforts to accurately communicate information regarding a dynamic range of stories around the region. I have been impressed with the unbiased sincerity of the reporting and the overall “reality” of the shows. Many stations lack this quality, but I have truly grown to admire its unique appeal at News 13. Kudos to each person who plays a part in making a difference in the community! Keep up the great work!
