The Masters: Second Round Afternoon Update
For the first time in the 72 years of the Masters tournament, two Clemson Tigers were in the field. But when the cut comes down tonight, DJ Trahan and Jonathan Byrd might not be around for the weekend. Byrd's caddie told him on fifteen, while Jonathan was eyeing a birdie putt,"We need to do something here." Unfortunatly for Byrd that something ended with a par. During his interview he seemed disgruntled and almost ashamed, knowing he left alot of shots out there to be made. "I just couldn't get it done on the greens today," said Byrd. " I feel like the way I was swinging the club I was on a pace for a minus three." As I sit here typing the projected cut is at three over par, meaning bye bye Byrdie. When asked if he would even watch the rest of the tournament he responded," Probably not, maybe on Sunday for a little while, but I feel like I should still be playing." As for Trahan he is on the twelth hole, now at five over par after bogeying the previous hole.Trevor Immelman is still the leader, repeating his four under performance from yesterday, as the South African sits at minus eight. Brandt Snedeker picked up one more birdie on day two, and he resides one stroke back. Steve Flesch has the low round of the tournament thus far, carding a minus five for the second round. That's a great comeback considering he entered the day at even par. Phil Mickelson has placed himself nicely for a big finish this weekend. Lefty is walking up the eighteenth fairway as we speak at minuse four. As for Tiger Woods, I will tell you what he told swing coach Butch Harmon before teeing off on the first hole today. Actually it's pretty shocking to hear the always confident Woods utter words of futility. You can check that on News 13 at six.
