The Masters: Foggy Start
Good Morning from Augusta National. Fog was the early story on day one, suspending tee times for an hour. Tiger Woods was slated to tee off at 10:48, now he will be pushed back to 11:48. But other than the fog slowly dwindling away, the sun is out and temperatures are climbing which should mean the opposite for the golfers’ scores. As the temperatures rise, the course will dry out, making the greens faster and firmer and that plays well for the field. Justin Rose told me yesterday, unlike last year he expects the scores will be below par.Coming up on News 13 at Six, We’ll take a look at some of the younger faces around the course. No, not the first timers competing but the children that have been allowed in as Augusta National attempts to bring golf to the youth. Plus on News 13 at Five We’ll take a look at the Masters merchandise, and if your buying it outside of Augusta, there is a good chance they bought here first.
As for the action on the course, Nick Dougherty is off to a great start at -2 through the first three holes. He is tied currently for the lead with Heath Slocum at two under par and who is just making the turn after nine. Tiger tees off in twenty minutes and the gallery is monstrous on the tee box. I will write an update around 2pm.
