The End of the Best Dang Show on Television

The last episode of The Wire has aired and now I'm waiting on the movie. At least, I'm hoping for a movie. My feelings are hurt because I no longer have a show to look forward to on Sunday. If you don't know about The Wire, then you're sleeping on the best show on television. It has to be HBO's best show.....next to The Corner, Oz, The Sopranos (not really sure on that last season though) and Sex and the City.

The Wire is set and produced in Baltimore, Md. The Wire gives viewers an up close and personal look at the various intricacies of Baltimore's political, criminal, and educational struggles. The show shined a big spotlight on the institutional dysfunction that was the Baltimore Police Department, City Hall, the public school system and the media.....oddly enough.

The show is like crack and I'm already suffering from withdrawals.

This season was especially near and dear to my heart because it dealt with the media. I don't want to talk too much about the final episode in case someone didn't get a chance to see it, but it's definitely one of the best endings anyone could ask for.

David Simon, the creator of the show, and his crew are brilliant. I was really impressed and I really don't have any complaints about the ending. I'm sure The Wire fans out there know how I feel when I say I wanted to see the top drug dealer go down for good. The ending in a way makes you think that it will be a movie.

I hope so because I don't know how long I can make it cold turkey. I'll sell my best friend's television for another "hit" of The Wire.
