Spring is here and to me, that means softball
I haven't played softball for about seven or eight years, but this year I have a great urge to get back in the game. I used to live and breath the game, now I hardly ever take out my gear.My husband and I recently moved to Surfside and I spotted the batting range there. I guess seeing that made me want to start playing again.
I was going to go to the batting range last Friday, but it was closed. I couldn't find any operating hours at the place so I went across the road to the Batter's Box store to see if they had any information. They too were closed and I didn't see anything posted in the windows about the batting range.
Anyway, I want to play again so bad it's killing me. It's pretty much the only thing that I've been able to think of for the past few weeks. I would like to find an adult women's fast-pitch ASA team, but I don't think I will be that lucky to find that around here. I believe there possibly may be adult ASA teams around here, but I'm sure their slow-pitch and/or co-ed. I also know they have softball at the rec center on the old Air Force base, but I have to find the place to go to get more information about that.
Over the weekend I actually got back in touch with the pitcher of my high school team. I was a catcher (and outfielder), so we used to practice together all the time and pretty much hung out constantly. This just made me want to get back into the game even more.
Softball, to me, was the sort of thing that took all of my worries away. If I was having a bad day, all that it would take to cheer me up was a game or practice. I was happiest when I was on the field. The smell of my glove takes me into a daydream of all the fun I had, ASA local and travel softball, high school softball and helping out with the women's league.
Anyway, does anyone have any information about adult teams in the Myrtle Beach area? I would preferably like to find a women's fast-pitch ASA league, but beggers can't be choosers I guess. I'll take any information anyone has. Also, if anyone is familiar with the batting range in Surfside, could you please share whatever you know about it?
On another note, I got RockBand over the weekend. I only bought the drums and the game because I already have a guitar that will work with it. I've already beat it with the drums on easy and am halfway through it on medium with the drums.
I think the drums are more of a challenge than the guitar is on these types of games. When you use the guitar you are only using your hands, have five buttons for the left (or right) hand and the little pick motion and whammy bar for the right (or left) hand. With the drums, your moving your hands around a lot more and have four pads to worry about, not little buttons. You also have the foot pedal, which makes it even more difficult. I failed a song for the first time with the drums last night. It gets very, very challenging.
