Sorry, Gamecocks
The South Carolina basketball team had a great year in Darrin Horn’s first year.Twenty-one wins, a share of the SEC east championship are vast improvements from last year.
It, however, won’t be enough to get a berth to the NCAA tournament.
The Gamecocks have an RPI of 63 and their only quality non-conference win is against Baylor. Two wins over Kentucky look good on paper but the Wildcats are a shell of what they used to be and will be joining the Gamecocks in the NIT.
USC also struggled down the stretch, losing three of its final four games including a 16-point home loss to Tennessee last week.
So if you are a Gamecock fan, don’t be disappointed when the brackets come out Sunday. Just hope they learn from the end of this season and build on it in the future.
