So, I’m kind of over Guitar Hero III…..
....because I've moved on to Rock Band! Two Saturdays ago I bought the Rock Band game and drums. Since then, I've already beat it on easy and medium using the drums. But with this game, it doesn't end there. Once you've beat it on one instrument, you can move on to another.Yeah, this may be old news to you and it kind of is to me since I've known of this game for a while, but now I own it. It's actually a little different once you own the game and see how much you actually can do with it.
If you don't know anything about this game, it's like Guitar Hero.... on steroids. If you buy the Rock Band bundle you get a guitar, drums, microphone and game. You can do solo tours with any instrument of your choice or take some friends along with you on a band world tour, online or locally.
A great feature about this game is that you get to create your own person. You can name them whatever you want and dress them however you want. Right now my drummer girl looks like Willy Wonka from Charley and the Chocolate Factory. As you go along in the tour you collect money. With the money you can buy your character clothes, accessories, hairsytles, tattoos and new instruments. If you don't feel like buying your character new stuff, then you can unlock them as you advance through the tour.
Now, if you want to save a few bucks and are only interested in the drums, you can now buy the Rock Band drums and game separate from the bundle. Also, if you already have a Guitar Hero II or III controller you can use it with Rock Band. I have the Guitar Hero II X-plorer controller and it works great with Rock Band. The only difference is that you do not have the lower buttons on the fretboard that are there on the Rock Band version of the guitar controller.
The only thing I didn't like about the drum set is the fact that they don't give you a throne to go along with the drums and the sticks they give you seem like they would likely give you splinters. Thankfully, I have my own drum throne and my own drum sticks. If you choose to get the drums only, be sure to get a stool and some new drum sticks.
Something else that is awesome about Rock Band is all of the downloadable content (DLC) they have. Their coming out with a ton of songs each month for this game. Of course though, you have to pay for it. If you have an Xbox 360, then you will need some Microsoft Points. I just downloaded the Nine Inch Nails pack with the songs; Perfect Drug, March of the Pigs and The Collector. I also downloaded Paramore's song Crushcrushcrush. It's a new month, so I should start to see a bunch more DLC for this game.

I’m down with the Punk Pack, as well as the NIN and STP tunes—that’s some good stuff.
Sadly, I have no musical skills and playing Rock Band would make me (and possibly others) painfully aware of that.
