Smashing your finger and the effect it has on your work

Earlier today, I walked back to one of the edit bays to ask Michelle Carolla a question. She had the door closed when I went to speak with her, so I decided to close it back when the conversation was done. Well, when I closed the door, I didn't get my pinkie out in time.

When it happened, I remember it making my finger feel very weird. It didn't hurt, it just felt very, very strange. Once the door was removed from smashing my finger, I pulled it out and looked at it. My finger instantly started bleeding, this is when the pain set in. I started screaming, "God, god, god, oh god, it hurts, oh god, god....." I remember Michelle saying to me, "Oh no, don't cry, don't cry." The only thing I could think about to myself was nothing but cuss words. I'm actually not sure if I was able to speak any, but I know there was many different sentences being formed only with cuss words in my head.

The worst thing about smashing your finger is the pressure you feel after. That constant, thump, thump, thump, that can be a never ending reminder of your injury. My boss gave me a couple of fingertip band-aids and some ibprofen. The ibprofen made the throbbing stop, but now I've got this huge band-aid on the tip of my finger that will not allow me to use the left side of my keyboard too well. I keep hitting the caps lock and random other letters while trying to hit a or q. It's driving me nuts.

Anyway, I just wanted to share..

Hope you feel better. Nothing worse than a sore finger, you seem to smack it on everything.

Michelle didnt want you to cry cause then she woulda cried too..she is cool like that..

I had a similar mishap a few days ago..I was washing dishes..actually washing a new glass from a set we just bought..as I ran the sponge around inside the glass it broke and cut my hand really bad..the farther I twisted the sponge..the deeper it cut..took me a second or two to get it in reverse..

Much like yourself..cuss words are all that I could think of..then I went to telling the wife that the company that made them was the sorriest thing in this world..

Two nights later I was washing another one of the glasses and saw what I did wrong..I have a ring on my right hand with 4 diamonds in it..I was the one responsible for the glass breaking..

When wives teach their husbands how to wash dishes..they should tell them to take their rings off..who knew?

I hope your finger gets better soon!

Yeah, Wolf, Michelle is cool like that.  She is a very sweet and caring person.  Thanks for the well wishes, too!

I, too, cried when I first read this.
You want me to come over there and doctor that pinkie up for you? You just say the word and mr. mookie will be at your service.
