Signs of Spring?

I noticed today for the first time that some of the trees around the area are already blooming.
The blooms are a beautiful pinkish-white color and I believe they're called Tulip trees...but if anyone knows anything different, please let me know.
Anyway, they're absolutely gorgeous and though I don't know if they're actually supposed to be blooming yet or not, I'm happy to see them.
They are a little sign that spring and summer are not too far off...and the 50 and 60 degree temperatures will soon be a thing of the past.
I know a lot of people enjoy the "winter" months down here, but after being spoiled by many Carolina summers, I'm no longer a fan of any cold weather.

I'm looking forward to the days not ending until about nine at night, and being able to make use of the daylight.
I'm looking forward to having the windows down while driving in the car and enjoying a nice breeze on a summer night.
Obviously, I'm looking forward to the end of winter.

I'm also a big fan of plants and flowers and I can't wait to see all of them in bloom. Walking around my yard I also noticed that what I believe to be yellow tulips coming up out of the ground...and I have quite a few bushes that are flowering right now with anything from white to light pink to dark pink blooms with yellow on the inside.
I've also seen these blooming in quite a few other yards in the area. Again, if you have specific names for these plants, I'd love to know them....

Anyway, just a few nice little reminders that the dreariness of dead grass and cold temperatures will soon be a thing of the past...at least until next year...
It may, after all, be the time of year for these plants to bloom...I'm not sure....

So what is your favorite time of year? Are you looking forward to warmer weather? Do you know a heck of a lot more about plants then I do? smile
I'd love to hear from you....and I've attempted to include a picture of the pink trees. It's my first time posting a picture, so we'll see how that goes!

If I had a blog, I’d have pictures of new hatchlings, prettier flowers...and yes, even the first robin that set foot in the Pee Dee.  A true harbinger...and blog experience...of spring.

PS-You’ve taken your blogs to the next level Trish...we’re a visual medium...and you’ve arrived.

I wish this was Countertop’s blog I was posting on..he wouldnt ask such hard questions..

It feels like taking mid-terms and I just know I’m gonna fail..

So what is your favorite time of year?

Spring..

Are you looking forward to warmer weather?

Yes..

Do you know a heck of a lot more about plants then I do?

Prolly..

You did a lovely job of putting that picture in..it adds to the total feel of the subject..

I think you’re cute…

Whew! That knocks out the essay portion of this test..

So did I pass?

Will Countertop ever get his own blog?

Can I go now?

smile

I’m a reporter...that’s why I ask so many questions...you’ll have to forgive me.
It’s just in my nature, even in blogs...I can’t stop asking questions...Am I rambling?

Ah, and the countertop saga...maybe one day he’ll write a blog about the difference between ceramic versus marble in your kitchen...he might even get a big company like say, I don’t know, Formica, to sponsor him.... smile

Nice to know another Tulip-tree fan is out there. My husband looked all over town last year to try to surprise me with one ... apparently they’re only available a certain time of year, and we’d missed it. Maybe this year smile

They are very beautiful aren’t they Kim?
I think they’re also referred to as “magnolia tulip” trees...and when you do some searching in google, the image looks the same…
If you’re still looking to buy some, I found a gardening site that appears to have them, hope it helps....

Even when you are rambling..you are still cute..

I’d love to have a couple of those trees..but it took the wife and I forever to locate the cut-leaf maples we wanted..and when we did find them..they costed a small fortune..

At the moment I am rooting twisted willows to put down near the corral and barn that I am building...we have one we planted a few years ago..and another that was rotted from it..lovely tree when it gets big..

I had a Japanese weeping cherry tree when we first bought the place..but the droughts we had have finally killed it..I aslo have a wysteria tree..a bunch of dogwoods..bradford pear..and a ton of azaleas..I have 6 red tip trees that I am trying to grow where the limbs at the bottom are gone and it looks like a big ball at the top..

We love planting and growing flowers and trees..and we really love bird and squirrel feeders..we have about as many of those as we do plants..

As for Countertop..when he gets where he can take pictures as good as Jimmy Moore can..then they might be more willing to listen to his demands..Personally I’d give him one..just to shut him up..

..he aint near as cute as you are..smile

They’re really my favorite tree. Thank you for the link. Even better it’s called a “magnolia tulip”—a way for my husband to have his magnolia tree ...
