SBC has really come a long way
It's hard to imagine the Southeastern Baseball Classic as anyting but one of the region's top tournaments. In 13 years, Jimmy White and everyone associated with Hartsville have really built it into something great. From Georgia to North Carolina to Virginia, there probably isn't a top high school program that hasn't at least heard of the SBC.
At least 10 players who went on to sign professional contracts played in Hartsville, and more than a few state championship teams.
Just to give you an idea of what the talent level is like, Hartsville's 2007 state championship team that went undefeated in the playoffs did not win the tournament that year.
The scholarships are obviously big draws, but the work that the team and the school puts into it are just as valuable. Word-of-mouth has a way of reaching farther than you'd expect.
