Sayonara, Terrell Owens

It seems Jerry Jones has decided, for once, to check his ego at the door. As a Dallas Cowboys fan, I’m glad to see it.

If the multiple sources know what they’re talking about, it looks like Terrell Owens is out of Dallas, having been given his release Wednesday night.

Is there a part of me that loves watching T.O. catch touchdowns for the guys wearing the big, blue star? Absolutely. But I, like many people, simply believe Owens does more harm than good. At least from the outside looking in, Owens seems to care at least as much, if not more, about himself and his stats as he does winning. And that’s a losing formula almost every time.

To be honest, I was somewhat surprised when I heard the news this morning (I was in bed last night when it first broke). To release Owens means Jones is admitting he was wrong about him. And anyone who knows anything about Jones’ ego knows how difficult that must have been for the controversial owner.

Despite Owens’ proclivity for leaving rifts in locker rooms across the league, some team will pick him up. He’s too much of a talent for that not to happen. And it’ll still be fun to watch him play – as long as it isn’t for my team.

Will Owens’ departure hurt the Cowboys? Maybe. All I know is that with him on the field, they don’t win games that really matter.

At least now if the Cowboys underachieve, we’ll know it isn’t because T.O. is spreading cancer in the locker room.

Roy Williams (S) is gone too.
I would have like to seen JJ get rid of Wades big fat arse. On game day, He looks like a deer in the headlights.
