RottenNeighbor.com
I read an article recently about RottenNeighbor.com. You go to the website and can post problems that you have with your neighbors. They call it a real estate search engine- one you can check before you decide to move into a particular location. It just started in July, and I can't help but wonder if it is an effective tool, or only good for a good laugh. While it's kind of entertaining to look at where you live and what people around you have posted about your neighborhood, what kind of outcome do people who post on this site expect? Mabye it's enough just to vent, but I don't see how any change will come from leaving a comment on your neighbors. There has to be a better way.
Even within this website, it is suggested that you actually talk to your neighbor and explain your problems. Whether it is loud music, leaving the trash cans out, or not cleaning up after their pets, maybe the quickest way to a solution is to try to talk to your neighbor, rather than tag them as "Rotten Neighbor" on this website. And obviously if your complaints are more serious and your neighbors are in fact breaking the law, maybe a complaint to the proper officials would go a lot further.
I guess one of the most amusing things I have noticed just from looking around the postings for this area is that the people who post comments can't seem to do so without curse words. How can these posters expect to be taken seriously? For that matter, how can this website be taken seriously either?
Take a look at it yourself, and let me know what you think.
