Region 8-A still the best in lower state softball
So Johnsonville and Lake View are vying for the Region 8-A title in softball, but they'll see each other again down the road.And possibly some more familiar teams.
Region 8-A has had the best team in the lower state for the last six years with Latta and Lake View. Johnsonville now has a shot at it, and Carvers Bay has shown that they can't be counted out of the mix either.
As Johnsonville coach Ryan Poston said yesterday, it's not that Latta or Lake View have fallen back to the pack, it's that the rest of the teams have started to catch up.
With travel ball, JV programs, summer and offseason camps, and a lot more kids specializing in one or two sports, the gap between schools has started to shrink.
Throw East Clarendon into that mix, and the Class A postseason in the lower state should be an exciting one to watch.
