Prayer of the faithful worth listening to

I was privy to a prayer recently from a well-known Marion County leader. He prayed for there to be one team, one vision and one mission in Marion County. He prayed for people to answer the call of being sent to do what God calls them to do.
.
He prayed unashamedly in front of a group of state and local leaders, business and industry officials and civic and public officials. He prayed with clarity, a strong voice and from what I can only hope and believe, after hearing his prayer, is a pure heart before God.

I often hear prayers before political events, in church services, in public meetings and even occasionally one from the desk of a co-worker. I hear others pray and I hear myself pray and I often find myself asking for forgiveness for being judgmental and critical of the prayer and the pray-er. I am jaded, cynical and look on most with a eye of disbelief, if not out-right distrust. I do not believe the heart of man is basically good. I do believe everyone has an agenda.

So when I hear a prayer that doesn’t move me to the role of editor, judge or critic, I am thankful.

This man's prayer continued in a hushed room. He asked God to move Marion County where Marion County has the ability to go.

I am making his prayer my prayer. South Carolina's Marion County has produced brilliant minds, caring citizens, able athletes and strong willed activists. These are people who have money, influence and who are worth hearing from and listening to.

May God bless her future as he answers the prayer of the righteous man whose prayer, I pray, availath, as James says, much. (James 5:16.).
