Patriot fans drained
I've seen more action in morgues! After sitting aimlessly watching the FMU women blow a 13-point lead only to lose to Armstrong Atlantic in overtime, I had to wait an extra 25 minutes for the men's game to start.
Apparently, the fans were wiped out as well. They seemed too emotionally and mentally drained to get into the men's game, which was pretty competitive.
It didn't help the Patriot men blew an early 11-point advantage with bad shots and turnovers. Leading 14-3, FMU started taking shots that made you wonder, "What the (expletive deleted) are you thinking, or are you (expletive deleted) thinking?"
Even Sam Smith's missed dunk on a breakaway early in the second half couldn't draw any derivisiveness from the faithful.
The Pats then went on a run, and even that couldn't wake this crowd up.
It is a sad but honest truth. FMU has become the Division II version of Tennessee before Bruce Pearl. The women's team draws the crowds, and the men's game are used for sleeping and catching up on homework and other studies before the parties and bar-hopping begins.
If I'm lucky, I might see some applause if FMU wins, but I doubt it. The women lost, and that's all that matters!
