Panthers finding ways to win

The Lake City baseball team continues to find success despite the loss of several key players.

No team can easily replace two of its top pitchers, especially in high school, but the Panthers have seemingly not missed a beat.

Mr. everything Shon Carson was always a great athlete and a tremendous hitter, but I didn't know he was a frontline pitcher. Closing out games and getting spot work is very different from starting, but he seems to have handled it well.

He's a potential pick in the upcoming amateur baseball draft, and depending on what happens the next season or two, he might earn a high spot.

As always, the Panthers have been hitting the cover off the ball. Shane Miles, Reggie Weatherford and Carson have been big parts of the team for several years now and give Lake City a tough lineup to pitch against.

While I don't expect the Panthers to remain unbeaten, if they continue pitching like they have, they have a shot at making it back into the lower state bracket.

And possibly farther.
