Overmatched

With the exception of Marion High's girls, everyone and everything that came to Columbia seemed to be overmatched, including my car.
My car begins to overheat on I-20, so I pull over at a gas station. I managed to get my father's truck and continue the trip.
When I arrived at the Colonial Life Arena, Mullins and Southside's boys were locked in a close game - just what I thought a Class 2A state title game was all about. Then the second half came. Southside turned the contest into a slam dunk contest on the way to routing the Auctioneers.
I hoped Darlington's girls could stay competitive against the dynasty known as Lower Richland in the Class 3A title game. It was - for a little over a quarter. Then the rout was on from there.
What was already a long Saturday night turned into an even longer Sunday when I found out my engine's head gasket was cracked. Turns out, none of made it down I-20 in one piece.
