Now What?
I'm here at work, and it certainly doesn't feel like another year. But it is.
The holidays, on the whole, were pretty awesome. I pulled some extra work shifts, but I was fortunate enough to be able to spend some very valuable time with not only my wife (our first Christmas together--ever!) but also my parents, my brother, and his girlfriend.
It doesn't feel like the holiday seasons of years past, as my family continues to build new traditions, as our family continues to grow.
Santa Claus was pretty good to us, and I've got some new gadgets to try out around the place.
My Terps lost a miserable Emerald Bowl to Oregon State, but what can you expect from a team that played so inconsistently all year? (Two wins over Top 10 teams, but too many injuries to overcome.)
But now, it's a new year.
I've made all sorts of promises to myself about what I want to do this year: exercise more, try to remain more upbeat, and make sure that I conduct myself more professionally at work.
But will it all come together?
I hope so.
I am looking forward to some things in the new year, some of them small, some of them big:
1) David Letterman is finally back tonight (Wednesday), after weeks and weeks of re-runs, and he actually has all of his writers!
2) The 2008 Daytona 500--the 50th Anniversary of The Great American Race--News13 will be there!
3) I am planning a surprise trip with my wife for our first anniversary in the spring. Shh! Don't tell!
4) We've finally arrived in the Election Year. I am starting to become more and more curious and interested in the race, and maybe I'll even get a peek inside the debates as the candidates arrive in Myrtle Beach later this month.
5) I want to continue to grow our FOX News At Ten newscast. We have some exciting opportunities to do that this year, and I hope we can. My friend told me she didn't much like the standing up, and the black background, and the plain-as-day graphics (her words.) I thought and thought about it, and I realized that it our (mine and the producer, Chasity Pendergrass) job to make sure the content of the show--the writing and the words and the stories we choose--is what makes our number-one primetime newscast stand out.
6) I want to get better at golf.
7) Maybe I will start exercising more.
I certainly hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday season, and good luck and God bless in 2008!
