Notes from Day 2 of media tour

Just a few observations from Day 2 of the Sprint Cup media tour:

- The more I talk to Juan Montoya and Dario Franchitti, the more you can't help not like them. Their accents are pretty cool, they always provide good insight and are good at what they do. It will be interesting to see if Montoya can duplicate last year's success and if Franchitti and the other new open wheel guys can make a splash this year.
- Tony Stewart needs a haircut. I know everyone lets themselves go in the offseason but you are a two-time champ. You shouldn't have a mullet.
- Gibbs developmental drivers Marc Davis and Joey Logano are about as polished as two 17-year olds could be. Logono won the Busch East Series title last year and Davis is competing for that title this year. Remember those names nbecause in a few years they will be making a mark in NASCAR's tops series.
- As far as the boss Joe Gibbs. He was in rare form and seems a lot less stressed since leaving the Redskins. He and his son J.D. put on a mini comedy act, trading jokes back and forth in their press conference with the media members.

Day 3 is probably the biggest one on the tour. We go to Dale Earnhardt Inc. where there will be no Junior. We hit Hendrick Motorsports, Junior's new home and it should be a frenzy. It usually is because of Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. But add in the sport's most popular star and it should be quite a scene. Casey Mears will be good to talk to because you know there won't be a crowd around him.

Juan Montoya should have his face on a coffee can. Juan Montoya. NASCAR should require that these import adopt Southern Names. Something like John Montana.
