No Doubt

One of my absolute favorite bands ever and, in my opinion, one of the best bands of my time, are supposed to release a new album sometime in 08 (I believe fall). The question is though, will it actually sound like No Doubt or will it be more of that Rock Steady crap?

Don’t get me wrong, Rock Steady wasn’t a horrible album, it just wasn’t No Doubt. What happened to the music of their previous albums like their self titled album, Tragic Kingdom and even Return of Saturn?

Of course, I bought “Rock Steady”, hoping for better tracks than Hey Baby. Hella Good was one of my favorites from that album. I think Hella Good sounded more like No Doubt than any of the other songs from the album. To this day I cringe when I hear Hey Baby.

I think most No Doubt fans saw “Rock Steady” as the beginning of the end, but then came the box set, then, we just knew it was the end. The box set said it all. There was no need for any kind of explanation. It was obvious, No Doubt either would never make another album or it would end up being one of those reunion albums or tours. Look, I know they were just taking a "break", but it seemed like they weren't going to do anything with the band when Gwen started her solo career.

So, thankfully, it has become one of those reunion things with No Doubt, but I’m not getting my hopes up too much about it though. You can never expect too much from a band when they haven’t been together for years. As I’m sure you already know the Smashing Pumpkins recently reunited for their album “Zeitgeist”. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but not quite the same.

Anyway, that’s just what was on my mind and I wanted to share. I’m going to leave you with one of my favorite No Doubt songs, Just a Girl.

Gwen is smoking hot. I’d run through hell with kerosene drawers on just to sip her bathwater.

Hey Ashlee. Check out Gordon Petersons version of Hard Sun on You Tube. That’s some good stuff.

Great topic.
