News 13’s first “Weather Election.“  What’s your favorite kind of weather?

You'll commonly hear the meteorologist on TV say it's going to be a "nice weekend," but that's an opinionated statement. When I say "nice weekend," I'm implying that most people watching will be very happy with the weather that day. Fact is, one person's idea of a "nice day" may be another's idea of a terrible day. For example, a farmer's idea of a nice day is likely different than a bride to be with outdoor wedding plans. I want to know your opinion, so I can be factually correct when I promise a "nice" or "beautiful" weekend.

So, in the spirit of Election Day, I'm holding a "weather election" of sorts so that from now on, when I say it's going to be a "nice weekend," I can be confident that I speak for the majority. Here's what I need you to do:

Post your favorite kind of weather as a comment on this blog. Be specific with your ideal day, ie. hot or cold, precip. or no precip., type of precip. and also your ideal high and low temperature. I'll track the results throughout the day today, tally up the very subjective results, and post the consensus (if there is one!) tomorrow morning.

Cast your vote now! This is obviously a "non-scientific" poll.

OK Chris. Here goes: 75-80 degrees, 35% humidity,
light & variable winds, only a few clouds. Overnight low 55 degrees.

Weather-wise..my ideal day contains any type of weather that doesnt include gnats..

Now if you really want specifics..I am referring to the little critters that are classified in the phylum Arthropoda..class Insecta..order Diptera…yet they also have aliases such as Mycetophilidae and Sciaridae..

The worst of this species is the Arabian club-footed black fungus gnat..very popular in the Pee Dee and Grand Strand area..a name which originated in Greece..the “μικροσκοπικό πράγμα“ ( dont wanna translate that cause I think there may be a cuss word or two in there)..

So if we could keep those lows down between the upper 40’s and mid 50’s…and the highs somewhere between 65 and say…72 degrees..this gnat problem would be at the very least..minimal….and possibly throwing in a bit of cold rain..they dont seem to like that either..

I hope alot of people vote this way..

Had I known that we was having an election..I would have made up little signs and stuck them up in towns all over the area and bought up alot of air time..smile
