New prescription discount drug program

You might say folks in Horry County got an early Christmas present today. The county announced a new prescription discount card program today. The goal is to say everyone a little money. And that's great news, since most of us are spending more money than usual because of Christmas. The program in Horry County starts January 1, 2008. It's available to everyone regardless of age, income, or existing health coverage, and designed to save you at least 20 percent off the retail price of prescribed drugs. It can also be used for pet prescriptions. And that's exciting I have a new puppy, and puppies require medications too. So, I'm excited about the opportunity to particpate in this new program. The program is sponsored by the National Association of Counties. Nationwide, more than 59-thousand pharmacies accept the card. The program is easy. You don’t have to enroll or pay a membership fee. Cards will be available at all Horry County Libraries, The Veteran’s Office, and several other locations. For a complete list and more information about the program, go to http://www.horrycounty.org or call toll free 1-877-321-2652.
