Nanny Cam Video

I knew it would happen.

During dinner with my family Thursday night, the call came.

CNN was on the phone asking us to feed them the video News 13's Jody Barr obtained from Wesley Locklair, the Garden City man who secretly videotaped his nanny as she appeared to violently shake his 5-month-old daughter.

As I mentioned last week on my blog, stories like this one always touch a nerve, no matter where they happen. So the interest from CNN and the number of new visitors to our website over the past 24 hours is not surprising.

Any time a child is involved in a story like this, people feel an immediate connection. Children are innocent, and often helpless victims, and most people clearly recognize the need to protect them whenever and however possible. When they are victims of abuse or a crime, the public outcry is usually huge.

Again, that's the case today, as people watch the video for the first time.

It's a good thing she didn't do that to my baby or I would of shook the life out of the nanny.

It is very obvious that the lady or if that's what you would like to call her is shaking that poor baby girl!!!!!And she is a mother and a grandmother at that imagine what she did to her own children....She needs to spend the rest of "LIFE" in jail.No one should take this sick woman's side she deserves everything she gets!!!!!!!!People like that really doesn't deserve life period!!!

It saddens me and scares me to see anyone defending this woman after seeing the tape. In a civilized society, anyone viewing this abuse would be outraged and horrified. If there are people who can not stand up for and show compassion for the most innocent of all victims, what does that say about the future? I have to believe that the people defending this monster are her twisted relatives and that their entire family is sick and depraved. Otherwise, it's just too heartbreaking.

I just rewatched the video and do you not see how rough she was with the baby after they sat down on the couch???

As a licensed daycare provider I can tell you that the amount the nanny's body was shaking while holding the baby over her head consitutes shaken baby syndrome. Playing airplane does not involve shaking, we're taught to not hold a baby over our heads at all because SBS can be caused very easily that way. Also the roughness that I saw on the cough is totally uncalled for with any child but a 5 month old, come on. If I were ever caught doing something like that I would lose my license forever.
