My dog Jayne

Last year after my dog of 17 years wandered off, we looked everywhere, including Jayne Boswell’s shelter. Once there, I told myself not to look at the other pitiful dogs, but I did. I saw Maggie, a yellow lab, that looked so lost. She had been there a few months and couldn’t get adopted because she was older. I left telling myself it was too soon to adopt after our loss. I couldn’t get my mind off Maggie and something inside told me to adopt her. It was one of the best decisions we ever made. I will never consider getting a dog that isn’t rescued again. You are doing a commendable thing, even if you decide not to keep her, she will have known something besides cruelty in her life. If only more people did just what you are doing, it would make a significant difference. Thank you!

Good for you Jamie!

BTW - What we really need is for people to take responsiblity for their animals and have them spayed or neutered! That would take care of a lot, if not most, of the overcrowding.

Here’s a good article on this topic:

It’s truly amazing how abused and neglected animals learn to trust people again. In my experience, it seems like most of them try so hard to be the best pets ever just so that no one will ever want to hurt or abandon them again.

I hope you can keep Jayne!

I hope I can keep Jayne, too Jackie! Adopting a dog from a shelter or being a foster parent is a good idea for anyone. There are so many good loving dogs like Jayne that need a good home and loving arms to hold them.
