Motorcycle crash

A motorist passes the scene of a deadly accident as a S.C. State Trooper stands over a motorcycle on the I-20 on ramp from I-95 in Florence on Tuesday, October 7, 2008. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

It is unbelievable to think that someone intentionally got behind the wheel of a car after drinking, caused an accident which led to the death of the driver and serious injury of the passenger, left the scene, and then returned as if he had no knowledge of the incident.  It is even more unbelievable that it is this man’s second DUI offense for which he was arrested and he is out on bail, able to carry on his life with his family, friends, and business.  What about Angelo Gonzalez?  He was the victim, and his life with his family and friends is gone forever.  How many other victims does there have to be before there are stonger DUI laws without loopholes which are enforced by the courts?  I have read and heard of this type of incident before and it is not unique to South Carolina.  Hopefully the family will get justice for their terrible loss and Michael Hilton, as well as other first time and repeat offenders, will have to take responsibility for their actions.

Although I’m not familiar with the details, I do agree with your thoughts. It’s a crying shame and a waste of life. I had considered purchasing a bike. Now, I have my reservations. Doctor friend of mine calls them “donorcycles”.
