Morning Buzz: YouTube on your tube

If you have a TiVo, you will be able to watch YouTube clips on your TV by the end of the year according to a report by The Associated Press. Those of you who are familiar with the website know YouTube is a place where pretty much anyone can post video content from music videos to comedic skits.
This new move by the company aims to reach beyond the web’s regular boundaries.
TiVo users with a broadband Internet connection and a TiVo Series3 box, which includes the high-definition model, will be able to search, browse and watch YouTube videos right on their TVs.

The report sites Nielsen media research figures that show 66 million viewers watch about 2.6 billion videos on YouTube each month. That's more than half of the 116.7 million monthly online video viewers.
YouTube is owned by Google Inc., which paid $1.76 billion for the company in November 2006. The site has not yet produced significant profits.

I will be surprised if this is not a hit for youtube, especially for those people that don’t have INTERNET access. While I rarely kill time on youtube I do go there when directed to by another website for a clip that they think is good. Most of the time it is worth a few minutes of down time to watch.

You are right Chris. It is ironic they didn’t call it youlcd, youplasma or youflatscreen.

I wish them well with it..but I think when the “new-ness” wears off..it will get real old..real fast..

Luckily I dont have Tivo..so I can just watch “ Everybody Loves Raymond” re-runs instead..

That’s alot of money to spend on a company that hasnt produced significant profits yet…I wouldnt wanna have to explain that one to my wife..

Ten Dollars a month is to much to pay for Tivo service..Just to be able have an interactive tv schudle menu..and be able to record tv programs on a Hard Drive Digitaly..But to be able to pause live tv and fast Foreward, Review etc… So when Lyra and Chris say something during a live Newscast and be able to pause it play it again When you miss what they said.. Might just be worth the Price…LOL ...Oh by the way Lyra did you Get you Some Ginger Chicken Yesterday while you were doing the Remote at Market Commons?.. I will just continue to watch youtube via internet for now!!;)

Oh by the way Lyra speaking of youtube i watched the clip that a WBTW viewer submitted in regards to you and chris doing a new Segment on the Morning afternoon Newscasts when There are no Traffic accidents in the area called Dance Party Fridays.. i think it would be kinda Cool!! I have never looked Lyra or Melissa as being “HOTT”. Today there is no doubt we live in society were women are constantly looked toward as sex objects instead of being viewed as equals.
