Morning Buzz: The most expensive burger ever?

If you read the buzz blog regularly (and I hope you do!), then you’ll remember a restaurant in California that was serving up a $90 burger. Well, if you thought that was unbelievable, there’s a place in New York City selling burgers for almost twice that amount. The Associated Press calls it a “hamburger for those on a champagne budget.” But, I think that really depends on what kind of champagne you drink!

The AP says $175 burger at The Wall Street Burger Shoppe is made of Kobe beef. It comes with black truffles, foie gras, and a Gruyere cheese. To top it all off… gold flakes. Lucky for me, if I ever go there, WCBS TV says the restaurant also has their staple $4 Shoppe burger.

Restaurant owner Heather Tierney told the AP the pricy patty attracts broker types who order the burger to impress their friends. Would that impress your friends?

This comes as no big surprise to me..

In and around New York City you can find a pizza at Nino Selimaj’s that costs $1,000.00..

Westin’s has a bagel for the same price..

Old Homestead Steak House has an $81.00 burger…while Serendipity 3 carries a $25,000.00 sundae..

But..to me.. nothing can top the idiots over at Chappaqua paying $55.00 for a bottle of water..

If my friends were impressed that I was stupid enough to buy a $175.00 burger..I’d be in the market for new friends..

I used to get around..I try to stay home as much as possible these days..

It’s really not hard to remember things that you consider bizzare..

Dont let Lyra fool you with those $4 burgers..I could have sworn I have seen her in a couple of those places I mentioned..wink

Dave..I earned this way of life..I deserve it..

I was raised on grits and fat-back..that way of life can only be surpassed by certain forms of Chinese water torture..smile

It’s just funny to me that the restaurant owner knows the broker types do this just to impress their friends, not for the quality of the food they are serving. The free advertising is probably not hurting because somewhere out there is another yahoo that will do it too.

I agree with Wolf about whether this would impress my friends.

Not this ole’ boy. Hell, I’m not impressed that some idiot would actually pay that much for a hamburger. Guess I’m a simple man. Give me some ground chuck and crumbled blue cheese and I will grill you a fine burger. Cost would be about $4.00. We’ll spend the other $86.00 on Bud Light.

You got that part right..Cant live with them..

The pretty Yankees..those are the ones I worry about the most..cause you could accidently end up married to one of those..

I know my luck..when I said “I do”..she would be the spittin’ image of Lyra Manning..

..but when I sobered up..she would be like Jackie Torok..

..able to beat me up and drink all my beer..wink
