Morning Buzz: Study says don’t “sleep on” big decision
WebMd.com reports new research published in the Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology says sleeping on a big decision could lead to a poor choice. The WebMD report says decisions like buying a big ticket item (a house or car for example) require careful and conscious deliberation, according to this new study.
University of New South Wales psychologist Ben Newell, author of the new study, said in a press release, "We found very little evidence of the superiority of unconscious thought for complex decisions. On the contrary, our research suggests that unconscious thought is more susceptible to irrelevant factors, such as how recently information has been seen rather than how important it is."
The findings of this study are based on the results of four experiments where college students were asked to choose the best option in a complex situation.
This contradicts other studies. According to WebMD, some argue that unconscious thought is best for making a complex decision – because it’s not limited by interruptions that occur in the conscious mind.

I think I’ll sleep on it and get back to you on it Lyra.
