Morning Buzz: Running on empty

In Los Angeles, the Freeway Service Patrol offers a service to help drivers who run out of gas. But, CBS News reports high gas prices have prompted some drivers to fake an empty tank. Patrol employees say with gas costing more than $4 a gallon, they’re seeing this way more than they used to. They say they find people saying they’re out of gas, but when they ask them to start the car… it starts… and it’s obvious their tank is not on E.

CBS News reports this isn’t just happening in California. Across the country there are similar services that some drivers are trying to take advantage of. But, courtesy officers say they also see more people who continually run out of gas, because they can’t afford to fill up their tanks.

How have gas prices impacted the way you fill up? I know I used to fill up my tank, now I just put in $15 or $20 worth and hope the price goes down!

“courtesy officers say they also see more people who continually run out of gas, because they can’t afford to fill up their tanks.“ How dumb is that? If you can’t put gas in the tank it ain’t gonna run, walk, take a bus, ride a bicycle.

If you don’t think California is the land of fruits and nuts, (both kinds) go see for yourself. Then again South Carolina had more than its share of the same as all state do.

The gasoline situation is only going to get worse, unless the oil producers wake up and understand they are killing the goose that laid the golden egg. You know what they say about paybacks.

I usually fill to 1/2 tank. Tha will last me a couple of weeks in my small S-10 pickup. Then there is the wife driving back and forth from Florence daily. She’s the type that like to put in $15-$20 worth at the time. Problem with that is she was having to do it every two days. Too many times. It was driving me crazy trying to balance each week. Now,we fill up on Sundays. It last through the week. Gas prices are killing us all. I voted Bush but I’m ready for him to get out of office. I’ve always voted Republican. I’m open this year. I’m listening closely and voting with whom I think is the best canidate to turn the crap around.

Care to say why you think President Bush is the cause of high gasoline prices?

I read somewhere that the best day to fill up is on Wednesday… and that the weekends are the most expensive time.  Although, I don’t know how true that is.

I don’t know that Bush is the cause of high gas prices. I do know nothing much has been done to lower them.

What do you think he should do to get prices lower? Mr.Bush will not go down as my favorite president either, but congress is where the blame goes. The tree huggers are where a lot of the blame is deserved also because of not allowing responsible drilling so we can get away from OPEC oil. I emphasize responsible drilling.

I don’t know. That why he’s the president and not me. I’m much more simple minded. We’ve invested a huge amount of money and sacrifice in Kuwait and Iraq. They should be giving us oil.
