Morning Buzz: One state gives 4-day workweek to gov’t employees
The state of Utah is the first to switch to a four-day workweek for around 17,000 government employees. In an effort to cut energy use, The Associated Press reports workers will put in 10-hour days Monday through Thursday, and have Fridays off. Their pay will stay the same. This doesn’t apply to all state workers, though… State police officers, prison guards, court employees and workers at public universities will remain on a traditional five-day week. The plan is expected to save millions of dollars in energy costs.
I know some workplaces in our area are looking at four-day workweeks? Has your office made any changes to help save money on energy and fuel costs? Do you think they should?

I think it is a great idea..
Years ago we were working 3 hours from home and worked Tuesday thru Thursday…two 13 1/2 hour shifts and one 13 hour shift..
It was a win-win situation…more work was completed…we had more time off to enjoy life..and saved a fortune on fuel bills..
I know that not all jobs can go to 4 day work weeks..but for those that can..this concept should be seriously considered..
It is fast becoming all about what employees “need”..not what they “want”..
