Morning Buzz: Job-seeker puts himself out there

Happy Friday! Do you remember what it was like when you were trying to get your first job? Well, a guy in Indiana will have a great story to tell about finding his first job after graduating college.

Rob Sedlmeyer is trying something a little different. He's wearing a billboard in the middle of rush-hour traffic, hoping that he gets noticed! This story is from WANE-TV in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Rob just received his Bachelor of Science degree in hospitality and tourism management, and he wants to land his first post-college job. So, during morning and evening commute times and at lunchtime he’s out there with his sign, a folder full of resumes and some water to stay hydrated in the heat!

During the morning and evening commutes and at lunchtime, Rob is out with his sign, a jug of water, and a folder full of resumes. He says he’s gotten some strange looks, and people take pictures, but, one day, a man actually handed over a business card.

What do you think of Rob’s approach?

What are the chances that the guy who handed Rob the business card…was in the sign business?

Man that is one ugly sign…If you are gonna stand out in rush hour traffic with a sign…major in art..it will prove to be a big plus..

Personally..I think Rob has spent most of his life in schools…to the point he has become institutionalized..he is too afraid to step out into the real world..so he tests the waters at the edge of the kiddie pool..while making a total jackass out of himself..

Blue collar workers..on their way to work..take one look at this dude and are happy they didnt go to college..

The guy lacks imagination and originality..but at least he is getting on-the-job experience…for when he is standing out there with his “Will Work For Food” sign in the near future..

We’ll be seeing this guy on an upcoming episode of DR. Phil..I just know we will..smile

How is hospitality and tourism management consider a Science?

At least he’s getting some exercise. Walking can add minutes to your life. This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $5000 per month.

Hey Lyra,

You ever planning on doing a “Trip on a Tank Full”?  Here’s a suggestion. You can visit Monkey Island. Take Matt with you.  He kind of favors them. That might help lure them in.

The job market isnt so bad that people have to take drastic measures like this..

It would be easier to find a job than it would be to stand in rush hour traffic on hot days with your lil water jug and folder…

What message does this send out to our youth..this guy went to college and still isnt smart enough to find a job..4 years wasted..

I’m still sitting here wondering who is supporting him while he does this traffic duty thingie…maybe Rob still lives at home with his parents…

I also wonder if that is bottled water in his lil jug or tap water…*LOL* wink
